I just did a 40% water change and now my ph level is around 7.4! How do I raise it back to 8.0-8.2?

baking soda is a quick fix...
you know, your water change water needs to be adjusted for salinity, temp and pH, etc before you use it.....

I am not to sure about baking soda to raise Ph. It should raise the Ph but the effects on your alk and ionic balances might be hard to manage, I use Kalkwasser to raise and maintain my Ph. Most times my change water ph is around 8.0, after a water change i drip kalk until my ph reads 8.3. I then shut off the drip, When the lights go out i drip kalk 1 drop per 2 seconds all night until day break. This keeps my ph around 8.3. The kalk also balances out the alk and helps maintina my Ca++ levels. Sine i have been using kalk my Ph stays under control. But the best method is to try and match the ph of yopur change water with that of the tank. HTH
