Hello all,
Looks like I'll have a couple of frags of Xenia umbulata available for trade for the next meeting, this is the good stuff.

Don't know about ID'ing xenia, but the only other place to get the umbulata that I know of is Inland Aquatics and its expensive ( http://www.inlandaquatics.com/prod/tr_coral.html ).

Hopefully whoever gets a frag from Joe, can frag it and bring it to the future meetings. Hmm I can see it now, LIRA members having a monopoly on Xenia umbulata...

Hmmm so are we getting some of the umbalata for cash or is it strictly trade?

I would prefer trade over cash but if nothing to trade, then cash it is.

I will take a frag also if there is any left. But cash is all I will be carrying.

Well I've had the 2 frags of xenia from the last meeting(thanks Joe!)and it seems that the Xenia elongata(sp?) is not doing well but the umbalata is.I've never been able to keep xenia for more then 6 months so we will see. I'm hoping to figure it out. Just an update
Thanks
Tom

Joe or anyone, do you know the difference between this and fiji pompom or red sea pom pom. they look so similar. Thanks again for the xenia.

Well it looked like the elongata was going to perish so I put it in my refugium. Everything does well there but it's not for viewing and wouldn't you know it it started to come back. I think the pH is lower in my refugium. My pH has always been high in my main display and sump about 8.4 or higher. Maybe the xenia doesn't like high pH.
We'll see what happens

PS Umbulata is doing very well. I put the frag next to a rock since it seems like it growing
