hello,

i was wondering if there was such a thing as a relatively hardy soft coral? that is, a soft coral that is often recommended for folks new to reef tanks to start with?

thanks!

ps -- obviously, i've just started reading up on corals and coral care

thanks again

Green stars . Some people dont like them because they spread so fast , but , I have read threads here of people trying to figure out how to kill them and cant . Thats pretty hardy .

Other hardy corals for beginers would be button polyps and mushrooms . Mushrooms also spread and are hard to get rid of if you decide you dont want them .

My Kenya Tree and my Cabbage both made it through a melt down, of my tank overheating. So I consider them pretty hardy.

Colt was my first coral and it lived through my many errors. Lots of movement and very photo-adaptive if you later want to upgrade lights. My new reef was planned with a special place for this survivor.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm off to look for pictures and to read up on the suggested corals.

I would have to second the Capnella (Keny tree) and suggest Anthelia (Waving Hand) polyps as well.

Hello, I have a large purple finger leather that is growing and looking awsome no matter what I've done to my tank. They don't need much light but they do like good water flow.

Aaron can you post a pic of that finger leather? It sounds very cool.

Thanks,
