After you do a water change, do you throw the waste water down the drain? Will it corrode the drain pipes under my house or will they be fine?

Down the drain. After dumping water down the drain, I usually chase it with some tap water for a minute of so.

I never dump it down the kitchen sink, though, as I have a garbage disposal on it.

I toss it out on my back patio.
It's concrete and prevents any weeds or such from growing.

Doesnt the runoff from rain move the salt on your patio into vegetation... killing it?

Maybe around the edges but that is a good thing. :)

Here is a whole thread (http://archive.reefcentral.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=141807) about disposing of old seawater.

That was my experience - two rhododendrons later. So since I have never used antibiotics within the tank, it now goes down the drain with a quick freshwater rinse.

It's been well documented that salt wipes out vegetation. The romans plowed salt into the fields at Carthage, after they sacked it in 146 BC.

I dump my in the Sump in the basement. like slimytadpole said I rinse it out for a few min. Because if I don't I get a bad smell after a few days don't know why.

On the gravel driveway. Elliminates the need for the weed whacker. :D

My wife refuses to let me dump it down the drain (I think she heard a rumor about corroding the home plumbing, but I figure the "normal" stuff that goes through the sewer isn't any better).

I've got 75 ft of tubing to pump water straight from the tank to the street curb, just for the wife:rolleyes:
