Have been trying to think of lighting for the next tank. It will be 230 gal 72"L x 22"tall x 34"deep. One idea is to use my existing 250w 65k Wasakis on the ends and use the 175w Ushio in the middle for the blue and do away with actinics.

Anyone using the 175w 10K? What ballasts are you using to light it? And how do you like the color?

The Waskis are yellow and I supplment with actinics- 660w URI. Was just wondering if this would be a nice combo and use a little less juice. (wishful thinking)

thanks :D

If it was me, I'd use a 250 watt Ushio 10K(which I use) instead of the 175 watted. Your new tank is deep and you need the wattage for depth penetration. Plus I'd keep the VHO's.

I recently retired my Iwasakis and went with the Ushio 10K's and I am much happier with the color(I also have the VHO actinics) The corals have responded positively also!

Unfortunately, this is not a cheap habit....oops, I mean hobby!! :p
