I am considering forklifting my Mh and VHO lighting in favor of some compact flourescent lighting. My tank is quite new but I have some SPS corals that are growing quite well. I have found some 6.4K 95 W CF's with reflectors for quite a good price and was wondering if the color temperature on these is too cold?

Also does anyone know how the color specrum of these bulbs compares to a Mh bulb?

Why are you looking to downgrade?
I think 6.4K is going to look pretty yellow. I strongly recommend that you see these lights over a tank your size before you get rid of your current lighting.

I gotta ask too, why? IME & IMO, I've never seen a tank lit with pc's look as nice as a tank lit with MH, and I've got both. JMO of course,

It's why I was asking. I hate to turn down a good deal, and the operating costs would be less, but I do like how my tanks looks.

Thanks for the information!
