Miracle Mud

I was wondering if if anyone knew if Miracle Mud was much better for an algae scrubber type filter than just regular substrate. Any backed up opinions would be greatly appreciated! :)

I have no first hand experience with the stuff. I've heard people that were happy with it, and unhappy with it. I never really followed the whys, because I wasn't really interested in using the stuff. A search on Miracle Mud will give you lots of hits, or maybe my replying here and bumping you back up will get the attention of someone that uses/used it.

I have been using it for almost a year and a half with very good results, but it is difficult to measure the contribution of the mud itself. My feeling is that any substrate that will support a good growth of macroalgae would do the job, and there are a couple cheaper alternatives out there now.
