View Full Version : What kind of Anemone is this?

In the macro-algae kit I received there are about 5 of these attached to the algaes themselves.
They are no bigger than half the tip of my pinkie.
I imagine they are a pest of some kind. They look nothing like Aiptasia.

They look like majano anemones, which are bad news. They can spread faster than Aiptasia, and can really do a number on corals. Racoon Butterfly fish are supposed to eat them, and I think emperor angels can eat them as well.

I think it is also A. majano, just from a different angle. The tentacles in that photo are obscuring the oral disk so it looks like a coral. Check out the threads I posted - there's a photo of one in the thread that Dr. Ron talks in.
