I am in the process of setting up my tank and need help choosing a skimmer.

I have a 75 g FOWLR w/ 30 g sump. I plan on adding 100 lbs. LR, a deep
sand bed, and stocking moderately.

The people building my sump have suggested I go w/ the Euro-Reef ES-5 (with Sedra 3500 pump) for its ease of use for a beginner. I will apparently get a flow rate of 400 gph.. turning my tank over ~6 x/hr. I'm a little worried this is not enough.. I like the price but, don't want to skimp too much.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You need two pumps:

One to run the skimmer.
Another to pump water from the sump up to the tank.

I have no experience with this skimmer, but...I thought the sedra 3500 pump that powers that skimmer was rated for 350gph, and that is w/ the std impellar. I have heard that the needle impellar that Euroreef uses can cut that in half.

Just wondering if you will really get the flow thru you are expecting. Maybe somemone who has one will chime in with more info...
