Feeding a DSB.

When people say you must feed a sand bed do they mean actually let fish food fall on it.Or will the sand bed thrive on fish waste and other matter in the tank?My sand bed is thriving and my Banggais never let any food hit the bottom!

Your bed is probably being fed sufficiently second-hand, provided that you feed the tank well. However, I suspect it would become much more active if some foods did reach the bottom. No biggie though.
