I have a mj1200 feeding my fuge, from slump.
The water out of the fuge goes back to slump.
I was told its best to feed fuge with water from return pump (tee off discharge of pump). That way I do not need the MJ.
I was thinking, its best to feed fuge/macroalage with water from the Display tank overflow... ???

Man, hope that makes sense ;)

I believe that is the preferred method. At any rate, I've always had mine Overflow > skimmer > fuge >return.

Not that I want to drink any-- but if i was to guess what is cleanest, out of skimmer. :)

I was thinking that the dirtest water should be feed to fuge (alage scubber) .. if that is were you keep your macro.. this dirty water has food that feed pods or mollies or seahorses
:D if you have them in there..
Water is cleaned by Macro / pods and then is sent to slump for skimming and other mechanical means..

Then is pumped back to Display Tank..

I've seen a lot of people recommend that, and I can see the logic in it. Personally though I would go whichever route is the simplest (least amount of pumps, least amount of plumbing etc.). Having a separate pump just to feed the fuge would be my last option.

While that makes sense, wouldn't you run the risk of skimming out pods, phyto, etc from the fuge?

agreed. in the end, the simplest was is usually the best. its all the same water, chaeto will grow, and pods will reproduce....its all good. :)

Brandon,
You know,,, after piping it in, the best method is, what works the best for my tank and how its setup... I tee off drain from tank, 50% to fuge and 50% to slump.. Fuge drain would not accept anymore water than that anyway..

Don't feel bad charlie! I haven't spilled water in about 7 years and in the last week I've had 4 good ones!!! Skimmer seals bad,Forgot I was filling salt-vat,ect. Too many things trying to get done at once :D

I always thought it was funny when I read posts about carpet-wetting until I was on my knees with my shop-vac

LB, I got 2 timers with bell for Chritmas, So I can set it when filling a container.. I set it for @8minutes per gallon.. Helps me remember to shut off water when bell rings..
Just don't say "I will get it in a minute" (I forget)

Wife was tring to tell you something--Timer bells for christmas--
I usually never leave mine unattended but with two tanks I'm tring to keep one alive and get the other finished so I seem to be doing 3 or 4 things at a time.
