With all the discussion around the calibration, I thought I would check with the group regarding favorite refractometers.

I am looking to ditch the swing arm and would much appreciate your suggestions so I get a good model the first time!

Thanks

I bought the generic refractometer from Marine Depot that has their logo on the case. I think most of the online vendors sell the same generic refractometer in a blue case, and they just put their own sticker on it. Beyond that, I haven't tried any other ones.

I use a Sybon...even comes with its own calibration solution.

I tested mine today against the Pinpoint 53mS solution and I was only 3 points off (1.023 vs 1.0264)... Not as bad as I originally suspected when I attempted to make the DIY Refractometer calibaration solution.

Whatever refractometer you purchase, make sure you calibrate it with the Pinpoint Calibration solution.
