Woman dies in crash near Townsend
By The Associated Press
Two people died in weekend crashes, the Montana Highway Patrol said Monday.

A 37-year-old woman inspecting damage to her vehicle after she struck a deer on U.S. 287 near Townsend, was killed Sunday night when another vehicle rear-ended her vehicle.

Officials say the driver and three other passengers in the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.

And near Livingston Saturday night, a 29-year-old Livingston man was killed and a woman injured when the vehicle they were in drifted off the highway and struck a bridge abutment. The man was ejected and died at the scene.

The names of the victims haven't been released.

The deaths raise the state highway fatality toll to 274, compared with 263 on Dec. 31, 2006.

SO sad.

Everybody drive tonight as if they were out to get you, know where you're going, and use moderation. Designated drivers are a really good party animal to have.

EDIT: and I'd add---be particularly patient with total fools tonight and do not try to pass them: pick another route or slow down. We love you guys and want you all back!

Pretty sad. We saw so many wrecks on our way home yesterday.
