Not to poo-poo on Andrew's Christmas present, but with clocks now in so many devices, I can't even remember when I last wore a watch.

I always wear a watch. I lost my watch this summer and went nuts without it for a week or two until I got it replaced. Of course as soon as I ordered a new watch I found the other one

I wear a watch everyday. I've actually had the same Timex that I got from Walmart for the last 3 years and have had to change the battery once.:D

:) Its been several years since I last wore a watch. I used to wear one pretty much 24/7 (even at night), then my last one broke for who knows what reason and I never got around to getting another one. I don't have a cell phone, PDA or any other type of gizmo like that I carry on me to tell the time either. We have plenty of clocks here in the house to look at, and if I'm out of the house I don't rightly care exactly what time it is. I can usually guess pretty close what time it is without anything telling me the time (within 15-20 minutes at least), and that's all the more accurate I need to be on an average day ;).

Here's a couple that I have, but I've got a couple more including the black one I wear most of the time which is like Jesse's watch.

My job requires me to wear a watch, but I rarely put it on my arm. I hate the way it feels (I don't wear jewelry) and I end up checking it a few times a minute, which makes the day go by SLOOOW. I just keep it in my pocket.

And what's the deal with putting it on the opposite arm that you write with? I've never heard this properly explained. I'm right handed, so it is much more convenient to put it on my right arm, when I do wear it. That is, however, wrong.

drauka99
12/26/2007, 12:49 PM
Marks - I'm sure the oposite side thing got started when people were having to note times and such on records, much easier to write it if you can keep pen on paper and look at the watch at the same time .... but thats just a guess

I wear mine on my left arm and I am left handed.

I wear a watch at work and when I'm dressed in something more formal than jeans and a T-shirt. I received my watch from my lovely spouse, so it is special to me.

If I wake up at night, I can usually guess what time it is without looking at a clock to about a ten minute accuracy. I seem to be able to keep track of time while I sleep.

It's easier for me to look at my watch than to dig my cell phone out and check the time. I'm not the type of person that always has her phone in her hand. I forget my phone more than I forget my watch!

I gave up wearing watches a long time ago as I got acclimated to working precisely by the hour (50-minute hour, actually)- plus I worked outdoors when I was a kid and a watch got banged up too easily; so knowing when it was lunch hour became instinct.

Besides, it's always right now! :D

Very nice watch, Joey! And not just because it's a Rolex. It's ART.

In today's crazy techno gadget electronic world, there is something just sooooooo cool about a well made, HAND made watch. With computers doing so many things, great watches are an example of great engineering, craftsmanship and creativity by people, not machines.

Yes ... I'm a geek. I admit it. I love nice watches.

I wear a Baume Mercier, will try to get a pic, and I love it still after 10+ years.

I wear my watch every day because I'm punctuality impaired and because it's part of my every day jewelry that I feel "nekkid" without.

:D

Very nice watch!

Here's my Bulova Accutron. It was a graduation present, so I don't wear it very often. I also have a Seiko Kinetic kicking around, but my parents got that for me in the 5th grade, so even though it still works, it's pretty beaten up and could use a trip to the jewelers.

http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s110/JokerGirlsPhotos/IMG_0337.jpg Hey! Your Accutron is beautiful. You should wear it every day. What good is a watch in the drawer?

The dial face of mine is a one-of-a-kind. The 70 diamonds were hand set by Royal Jewelers in Fargo. I will wear it until I'm dead and then hand it down to my favorite male descendent (to be determined thus far.) Unless I traded the face in for a "stock" face, I can't buy a face rom Rolex to replace it. I'd have to buy one on the black market.

You've got a point :) Even when I do wear it though, I find myself checking my phone for the time LOL bad habit I guess.

The face of your watch is amazing. My Dad wears a Rolex similar to yours as well. He had bought one as a kid as well that still works. They are great watches and it should last you a life time (provided you don't have a run in with a destructive crazy ER patient) :)

Hopefully, I didn't just doom the thread.

I wear a watch all week long, but rarely on weekends. I rely on my cell phone for the time. I would wear a wtch on weekends, but I'm always doing dirty work and I don't want to ruin my Movado. When I was surfing regularly I always wore a waterproof model on the weekends and I generally lost them on a regular basis.

Here's mine:
