Man banned from mall while he said he was looking for car
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — A 57-year-old man was banned from a Florida mall after mall security said he was wandering around a parking lot and looking for cars to break into.
But, Larry DiSalvo says his only crime was forgetfulness, and the reason he was wandering was that he had lost his white, 1991 Grand Marquis at the Tyrone Square Mall parking lot.
Mall security called police yesterday after DiSalvo was allegedly seen peering into and trying to enter cars. He was searched and interrogated but denied trying to break into cars.
St. Petersburg police said they witnessed no crime, and just issued a trespass warning to DiSalvo at the request of the mall.
Security found DiSalvo's car and allowed him to drive away.
