It'd take a lot of carbon to do much harm, in most cases. How big is the tank?

Are you running it in a phosphate reactor? Or in your fluval?

A cup or so of carbon is probably fine. I wouldn't worry very much.

Use 1 cup of carbon per 100g (1 cup [US] = 0.237 liter)

The more or less std for GAC is 1 -3 tablespoon / 10 gal. 1 Cup 100 gal is a nice middle ground or even 1 cup / 50 gals is fine, if one wants extra. How much one uses is a choice and is also somewhat dependant on who's GAC it is. Fluval is not all that good, so 2-3 tablespoons is a good range to be in.

Changing it out every 3-4 weeks is more important than alot of volume at once.

I would agree that 1c is fine, and change it every 3-4wks.

Most people have the best results through a reactor like a Phosoban 150 or similar.

Like Bommer said, there are better brands of GAC out there than Fluval.
