Hello,

I am cycling my tank and checked all the parameters yesterday. The alkalinity was very high at about 17dkh. So I shut off my calcium reactor.

But now my PH is at 8.63. Will these parameters even out on there own or should I use additives? When should I begin using the calcium reactor?

The pH should drop with aeration and the consumption, if the measurement is accurate in the first place. The high dKH is part of the problem. I'd let the dKH settle down to 11 dKH and work from there.

I would just let everything even out and start using the calcium reactor when you have a better idea of how much calcium your tank is using everyday.

Cool, so the ph and alk should even out on there own then, right?

Yes, although some water changes might help speed the process, since the alkalinity is very high.
