I'm sorry there is no pic. I will try to get one but I'm not sure I could get a good one. Anyway, there are these white tiny circular things with tentacles all around it. They have tiny white glowing dots from where the tentacles extend. Don't laugh but they remind me of tiny ufo's- especially since they just float around. Once in a while, one will stick to the back of the tank and it looks like a star or sunflower. I thought they were copepods, but after looking up copepod pics, I don't think so. I even thought...jellyfish:confused:

Could this be your guy? If so, hydroid jellyfish. Typically harmless.

I think so. There are like 8 of them. Do they grow bigger?

I counted at least 13 of them. I don't know if it's a jellyfish...
Anyone?

yes, it's one of those little jellyfish. they usually fizzle out after a few days, so enjoy them while they are around.

I've had them for a couple of weeks now and they have multiplied. At first I would see one or two now they are more like 13 or so, and they float around like ufo's. They are very interesting to watch :)

Mine lasted about a month maybe more, then I start growing upside down jellies on the back wall of the tank! I have about three pop off everynight. Don't know how to raise them so they get big enough not to get sucked into filters or PH.

Your picture looks like a different species than the one i posted, but my guess is that it's a similar one. Typical of most hitchikers of that nature, they will multiply, run out of food, and die off.

Hopefully somebody with a bit more knowledge of hydroids can chime in.

I would also like to know if there is a way to get rid of them. The front glass of my tank (1.5 months old) has 50-100 of them right now. Not much of a problem but if they continue to appear at this rate It could be.
