I know I have seen this talked about on here many times, but the search button doesnt work right now. What play sand is good to put into a reef system. I want to add more to my established sand bed, and none of the LFS carry the reef sand. I would like to get some more. I went to home depot today and they had some play sand, but it contain silicate dust which I know is not good. What type should I look to get if any?

First) The silicate dust is not bad.

Second) Many of the HD sands say "may contain" that doesn't mean it does.

Third) HD carries different play sands. They have a basic "Play Sand" and a "Tropical Play Sand". The tropical playsand is much lighter in color and at most HD is a calcium carbonate sand.

Here is some info http://archive.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=974781

Also as far as searching goes try using google to search only reef central for example try typing

play sand site:www.reefcentral.com

into the search at google.

It might be tough this time of year. I know the HD in Ithaca NY had some last week. It was on an upper rack above the non-tropical.
