How many times per hour should the tanks volume be run through the skimmer?

This depends on how yuo want to skim and what size skimmer you have and what size pump is running it. The more the better, the more you skim the more organics/proteins you will remove. Whatever your skimmer can handle, wont hurt,

Rule of thumb for a recirc skimmer is 1 to 1.5 times tank volume through the skimmer/hr.
