I'd add some t5s, maybe 4

You will need to keep the coral higher up in the tank, but yes, you should be able to keep a some SPS. obviously, you should increase the amount of light if at all possible. For SPS, you really need about 5 watts (or more) of light per gallon of water. Just a general guideline of course... As you mentioned, you can get away with less power if you move things higher in the tank. This may get to be impractical after awhile, depending on your LR setup.

well if you take into account i have
2 x 150w HQi
2x 65w PC actinics

i have 430w total, thats 5.37w per gallon.

I have dual 150 HQI's and 4 39 watt T-5s on my 40 breeder, and the sps do just fine.

Depends on tank depth.
Most likely good from top half of the tank, may want to swap the PC's for T5's for better par/penetration.

I have 2 150 MH(14k) and 4 T-5s on my tank. Tank is 24" deep and the SPS is growing great. The coral is growing fast and I've had to move things around. Some are happy lower and some are happier near the top. You can certainly fill the tank top to bottom with the right mix.

Well again, tank depth is the factor in light as well as what you plan to keep, but to give you an idea, my tank is 24" deep.
I have 150w MH x 3 which I know is pushing it but my tank is mixed and I do have T5's.
I'm going to guess your tank is more shallow than mine, so most likely you're cool even w/ the PC's.
Mine has sps top, softies/nems below, and a happy clam at bottom.

My tank is 24 ich deep and I have 150 MHs and 6X80 watt T5, but I'll change to 250 MH and 4x 80 watt T5. I think I'll have better growth with it.

150 watt HQIs with PCs work for me in a 24" deep tank. I make a couple hundred dollars a month selling frags of my acros.
