Thought I'd post this here too.

Been running 8 T5's on IceCaps for about a year now and well, I'm not 100% liking them. They put out a ton of light but there's just something about them I'm not satisfied with. Can't seem to find the K I really like and miss that shimmer effect too.

Thinking of doing this setup but will it work out for me. Tank is 60 x 24 x 24 and 98% sps. Want to do (2) SE 250's on electronic ballasts in lg Lumenarcs with 2 B+ T5's on IceCaps for supplement. That will put me at 700 total watts. What do you guys think?

It will save me 100 watts of elec./hr on a daily basis and about $50/yr on new bulbs.

go for halides, IMO you will get a lot better growth and colour/polyp extention

Yeah go MH with the t5 supplementals.

If you really want some explosive growth go for some XM 10k's If you need that more blue look head towards the 14k's but your growth will slow.

You could also try your new setup then add an extra t5 or two until you get that color you are looking for.

Thats exactly what I am doing.... did the T5 thing didn't care for the look (lack of shimmer really) and upgrading to MH. I am retaining two of the T5s for supplemental though.
