This dude was crawling along in my tank - a stomatella, I presume. Pretty weird critter!

Thanks, JackKerouac. I blame the camera for everything - good or bad! :)

It does, dodgersfan25, look elephant-like. What looks really weird to me, though, are all those bumps on top of the tail section. Anybody know what that is about?

I used to have alot of these in my tank, I viewed them spawning once. It was wierd, one minuite they were all munching on algae and the next all of them were spawning. Lasted 2 min and then it was like somebody flipped a switch and they went back to munchin algae. Since then they have dissapeared, I blame my snowflake eel. I saw him eating one.

Sorry yours all disappeared, skinz78! I hope they spawn in my tank, although I have only ever seen one at a time...

I started out with two stomatella that I managed to save during my tank downgrade. They didn't seem to breed in the 75 gallon but after a few months in my 38 gallon I have about two hundred. When they breed my fish go nuts eating the eggs. They have remained rather small, though - no larger than a pea in most cases.

Thanks for the comments, Paintbug and reefergeorge! Every couple hundred shots I get lucky.

Potsy, that's a load of stomatella. I bet you have a clean tank! :)

I got stomatellas as hitchhikers

On any given morning I can probably count about 50 to 70 on the glass, walls, and rock.

Does any place actually sell these? I had one as a hitchhiker and he seemed to do a great job but he croaked when he snuck into a newly setup tank on the rock. I wouldn't mind another.
