View Full Version : I havea question for a 90 gallon tank

i am going with a 20 gallon refugium and its not drilled but my uncle said there is this thing called a skimme that moves the water form the refuge to the main sump i just wanted to know if there was anything different and any pics of it. He also said i would need two Please comment

From the above statements I'm not too sure you understand the general principles behind a skimmer, refugium and sump. Here is a great website where we all have learned a great deal.

idk what he meant all i no about the skimm thing he is talking about is that it is bringing water from fuge to the sump because my 20 is not drilled which will be my fuge

I think he was refering to an overflow box. AKA surface skimmer.

you'd probably save yourself alot of headaches just using one tank with dividers for a sump/fuge. both tanks are going to need to be able to handle whatever loss you get when the power goes out. and with a 90 gallon i'm geussing thats going to really cut into the depth on your 20. also buying two overflow boxes with weirs is probably going to cost you more than buying one large tank.


also don't say no when you mean know. it makes you seem kinda stupid.

maybe he's refering to 'u' tubes/ siphon tubes connecting the two 20's without drilling them. They will work as long as the siphon doesn't break, but it'a risk some people are willing to take.
