Hello,

Just talked to Russ at Buckeye Field Supply and was advised
to post ? here. I just started using RO/DI water I'm getting from
friends unit. And he has no problems. Now the last time I did
water change, my skimmer started over skimming and my filter
sock under my drain started foaming up. Well the difference of
what I'm doing to compared to my friend is I 'm also adding
chlorine remover to mix the night before. Tetra Aqua, Aqua Safe,
to be exact. Will using this chlorine remover, which I should of not added, since chlorine was already removed through unit, is causing
the water to foam up. Like chlorine remover in water just sitting
there with nothing to remove?

Thanks

Also if this is the problem what will neutralize the chlorine
remover??

The RO-DI filter will remove chlorine and chloramine, if the filters are in good shape. Some water treatments, especially slime coat helpers, cause problems for skimmers. I'd stop dosing the Aqua Safe, if you're sure about the quality of the RO-DI water.

Great, thanks for input Jonathan, I was just wondering if there
was anything besides a heavy water change that will remove
or neutralize the chlorine remover.?

As far as I know, only water changes and time will cure the problem. I'd likely just wait, but it could be a few days.
