I just got one and it seems to fatten up only at night ? Is that what they do ?

Many coral open and feed only at night. Try feeding during the day for awile and if he opens then your good. If not you may have to feed at night. Look a few hours after lights out and if you see the poylps open then feed. Cyclops , brine , ect..

is it a must to feed brain ? Looks weird when other corals expand in light and the brain coral expands at night.

Its reefing. Like i said try training by feeding regular hours and if it doesnt work then feeding at night needed for best chance of surviving or growing.
