As noted i found a used 300 gallon acrylic tank drilled on the back for $450. Pretty scratched up on the back and a 1.5"x1.5" hole in the top corner of the side (corner broke off on side sheet). New supports have been added on the inside they seal this hole and a new sheet of acrylic was added to the front cause i noticed a double seem. It has new supports on the top and along the bottom and was promised it dont leak or i can return it. There are a few minor scratches on the front and there is some glue dribbled on it from the new sheet being added. Hopefully this can be removed. I'm not worried about the sides and back cause it will be picture framed in my wall.

So what would u do, buy it or pass on it?

Got to make it happen in an hour if its gonna. please reply with advice. If i get it I'll be looking for help on removing the glue and minor scratches from the front.
thanks

Scratches are easy enough to buff out if they arent stupid deep. I say grab it.

If you are making this a big project (framed in-wall) just take the time to do it right. Doesnt sound like a proper show tank with glue dribbled down the front, scratches, and patched holes.

I'd go with pass. If you're considering a big setup like that, why cheap out on IMO the most important part (the tank).

Pass. You can have a pretty GF but if what what if she has a side of aids?

Do it right the first time. The tank isn't the item to save your money on.

 Nice example.

I agree, pass. With a setup that big, I'd do it right the first time around.

well it has been passed on with the agreement that i am buying a brand new one in the spring with no complaints from the wife. This way i can get the exactsize i want and no scratches to worry about. thanks for your comments. Even if they had aids in them ;)

So, where do i get a new good acrylic over 300 gallons for a decsent price?

Tenecor is an rc sponsor and builds some acrylic tanks that I've heard good things about. That said, most people who have the money for a tank that size go for glass--starphire or other low-iron glass. So I don't really know much about acrylic tanks or opinions on them. Check the vendor feedback forums.
