Ok, I have made my DIY homemade ALK and cal supplements...I have been testing my alk daily for about a week, everyday it is at 7... I would like it a little higher as my cal. stays at around 440-450.. I have been using the chem calculator to raise the alk everyday from about 7 to 9... it says for my water volume(around 200 gals) it is 1 oz. If it keeps dropping to 7 everyday, how do I keep it up so I can start dosing my maintenence dose...??

Lower alkalinity levels will reduce biotic precipitation, so I'd just keep raising the dose a bit until the alkalinity starts to rise. The more alkalinity that's added, the more will be consumed, up to a saturation point.

but if everyday I keep adding the amount to raise it to 9 and it keeps dropping to 7 everyday, it seems I am never getting to a point of saturation...just sort of spinning my wheels so to speak... everyday its the same scenario..

DUH missed the part about raising the dose a bit everyday...
