BC 29 setup questions

I've been reading that putting live rock rubble in chamber 2 is bad because of detrus build up, but is bigger rocks like a few pounds each better? Do you use the stock filter with carbon or just some filter floss. and any thoughts on using a aqua-c remora hang-on skimmer on the back in the 2nd chamber?
