I have a 14 gal bio cube ,and want to replace the bio ball with live rock rubble. Do i have to add a light to the middle chamber for the live rock or will it be ok in the dark or could i use marco rocks instead or live rocks? I won a 16 lbs box of it at the last meetins
Thanks

You will be fine without a light. just hammer them in some small pieces, rinse them and drop them in.

just make sure you keep them submerged. If used as a "trickle" medium they will perform exactly like bioballs-- turn ammonia to nitrate only. Keeping it submerged creates a denitirification zone and pod breeding area. Light isn't needed unless you put macro in with it.
