Well, my nanocube comes saturday. My RO unit comes sometime next week, and i refuse to use any other water, so that gives me some time to work.

I've owned two tanks so far, neither of which have been drilled, so i really have no experience doing this. If anyone could give me the basic information, and possibly some pictures of what they did, that would be amazing!

Thanks in advance guys! :bum:

Drilling is piece-of-cake. Buy some scrap glass first to practice on. You'll be amazed at how easy it is. You can get a lot of help on the DIY forum here or rc.

The part that I would be drilling is plastic as far as I know. :)

The back of a NC can be drilled like any other tank but it is glass not plastic.

Actually it's acrylic, but i was talking more along the lines of the false wall.

Use a dremel. Are you going to add another pump or something else??

Oh...the false wall! Then any hole saw will work just fine. I used a cheapie from Lowes for adding another outlet in mine and it worked perfectly. I like hole saws more than a dremel, makes a much nicer hole.

Is this with any cube type all in one tanks or just a specific brand? Maybe M-tank or Aquapod?

The only ones I have drilled are JBJ NanoCubes. I think the biocubes are glass also. You can call the manufacturer to be sure.

Can the bottom glass on a NC6 be drilled? I mean is it tempered? I know the side glass can be drilled as I have seen pictures.

The reason is when I'm not using it as a quarantine or hospital tank, I'll use it for mixing salt water. The plumbing will attach to the bottom of the NC and pass through a hole in the stand, then into the sump of my main display.

According to my phone conversation with the manufacturer, there is no tempered glass in a NC24. I would not see why they would use it in a 6.

The nanocubes are glass.

However, I believe he's talking about drilling the false wall to add another pump, correct?

Yeah, zma21, why are you drilling this hole?

My guess is to add another pump to the first chamber. Thats what I did to my NC12.

Yea, to add another pump. Ended up not doing it, though.
