Excuse my ignorance... But who's matt? I got my two Onyx from Rod from Rod's Reef. Anyway, are they in your main tank or in that blue tank as pictured? If the later, how long do you have to keep em in there? How big are they (Look tiny compared to that lil hermit back there)? They look great! Good luck with them and I'm sure you'll love em!

Are my eyes playing tricks on me or are they mis-bars too...nice catch...
You've got them in a breeding net hooked onto the side of the tank right?

Got them from Matt Pedersen who also breeds Onyx.. The price was great 20 dollars apiece so I thought I'd give them a shot. They are 82 days old and are in a breeders net in my display tank. The bigger one is about an inch long and the other is about three quarters of an inch. Depending on the growth rate they will stay in the net at least three months. And that will depend on how big they get.

Ladypyg - What is mis-bars.. Clowns that are missing a bar?

It looks like the bars just aren't fully developed yet since they're so young. That's what mine looked like when I first got them.

They're still babies, the bars will come with maturity.
You can get mis-bar clowns, ORA breeds them.
Good luck Efrain, but I think you'll have no troubles.

What makes a clown an Onyx.. Is that just a term that is used loosely?

Onyx clowns are clown fish that have black as the more predominant coloration. This can be either a wild pair or by captive selective breeding to maximize the black characteristics.

Now you definitely have to get the Maroon out, huh. Break out the old fish trap.

I've got a pair that are mis-bars...Got them when they were very young...about an inch. The line on both doesn't meet on one side. They host in a rbta but at night they sleep nestled down next to one another in a large paly colony.
