hiya all.
well this is my frist post about my first nano tank.

anyway i've managed to pick up a 25g tank with skimmer, t5 light unit, 6kg live rock & what the guys says is a mouse ear coral, the thing is i can't find any info on the coral so if anyone has any info i would be very grateful.

also when i get the new tank home i was going to put the live rock out of the 14 g into the 25 g will this be ok.
it is cured live rock i've got as well.
thanks in advance for any advice

[welcome]

Looks good so far, I think you could transfer the rock if its cured. Post a pic of the coral for an ID.

Keep it up, stick around, and patients.

Good Luck!

Welcome to RC!!good to see more UK reefers!where abouts are you ?I'm in Portsmouth.i think you'll be fine moving the LR to the new tank.the 25g will allow you a bit more scope in the selection of fish and corals.I have heard of elephant ear corals but not of mouse ear....lol
pics would help with the ID!
best of luck and don't forget we are here to help so keep us posted on your progress!!

Hiya Tracey,

Great to see more reefers from our part of the world.
Keep up with you water testing, alk, calc & mag are all I ever bother with.

Except with a new tank -- check ammonia and nitrite levels for the first month, I accidentally killed my filefish thinkning that the tank had fully cycled as I cooked the LR for a few months.
But moving the rock from the "cooker" to the tank caused a cycle!

Best of luck and Welcome!
Regards,
Conor.

hoping to get some more this weekend.
my lfs tried getting me to buy a couple of little fish to cycle over the weekend but i wasn't having any of it lol

You will be fine for calc for a while, get alk though. That's the most important one IMO -- mag is a good one too -- Hair algae seems to hate it above 1350ppm. Dunno, maybe the lack of nutrients was the key.

Good girl yerself not using fish to cycle. When my nano was originally setup, after a week I added two male mollies (freshwater LFS), after an hour of slowly dripping water to the bag's, they were perfectly acclimated.

I got them to eat the algae, they eventually died (likely lack of foods -- think they ran out of algae)

So you may want to give them a go as your tank will go through a few stages of algae -- happens to us all, but it will go away.

Back to adding my first "real" fish and emerald crab, they've been floating long enough...

Regards
Conor.

i've also seen what i think are 2 tiny starfish 1 is red & white & the other is blue, but when i say starfish thats only in the sense that they are star shaped not a typical looking starfish lol
oh my i bet that makes no sense what so ever lol

Are they mini stars? I found one in mine the other day, kids love them.
Coz they are "sooo cute.." red and white as well

Bet they get eaten...
Mine just arrived out of nowhere -- LR most likely.
