got a picture of the fungia? it might be dying slowly.......shrimp don't normally attack perfectly healthy corals IMO.

hey if you can't catch the shrimp at least save the plate! pull it out until you can catch the little bugger!

The snowflake eel I added to my tank took care of the peppermint shrimp that were in there at the time :)

It took me awhile to think of this method, but it worked for me to catch a xenia eating Flame Angel and a seaweed loving Hippo Tang:

Get a trap.
Put it on the sand so the shrimp can get in it.
Put the plate coral in the back of the trap.
Be patient.
The shrimp will most likely go into the trap to get to the coral.
Close the door.

Got a trap from the LFS, and caught the shrimp in no time, thanks for the tips. I think he was the only one munching, but there are two more I am going to watch tonight when the lights go off. Two more to go!!

Caught another one!!! One more to go, unless they are hiding in the rockwork. They really are just crawling right out onto my three plate fungia and taking all of the food from their mouths, and the meat surrounding, and while doing this completly agitating the rest of the plate. GRRR even this last one is still doing it...little creaps. They are all goiing to an aiptasia farm.

They are all going to an aiptasia farm.
I'll give 'em a home if you're looking to get rid of them.

These are not monsters like yours Josh, but they are definately getting there, I would say they are 2 inches. Amazingly larger than the ones at the LFS but not your monster!

took a clear plastic watter bottle. Drilled tiny enough holes so the shrimp can't grab the bait (small piece of shrimp).

drill a hole in the center of the cap for the water bottle and tie a string to to (with a knot on the end). Bend the cap and squeeze force it into the bottle with the bate.

Leave it in there, be patient, as soon as shrimp goes in, just lift the string and the cap will close the opening; pull the sucker out.

Stephen,

All your stuff is still kicking. The Hammer, Frogspwan, Yellow Tang and Marine Beta are very happy. Let me know if you ever want them back :)

Later,

Jim
