I would suppose that advanced means that you've killed everything that will not survive in your "piece of the sea".

By the timing in the hobby I can't apply on advanced, by the results so far - can.
But my plumbing is way below newbie level, and I'll never pass this level in aquascaping, cleaning and securing the corals...

Depends on the area.... never kept a lionfish, but I can grow euphyllia out the yin yang...so....

Intermediate for me. I've read ridiculous amounts of stuff on just about every aspect of this hobby, DIY'ed all sorts of crap and pretty much mastered PVC plumbing. However, my actual experience keeping corals has been a bit anemic due to the fact that I'm a starving student (money trickles in). I figure having one flourishing tank stocked full and trying some rather difficult corals will probably qualify me for the "Advanced" category.
