The tangs seem to be pretty happy. I will be upgrading to a larger tank in the future.

Awesome, how old is this tank?

eco37
11/15/2007, 06:17 PM
The tank is about 8 months old. The first sps frag was added about 6 months ago. Most of the hard corals have been added in the last 4 months. I had some ricordea during the cycle that did great. Most of my zoas have been in since the begining as well.

wait is this a 37 gallon tall?

eco37

Thank you for the compliments. I tried to keep this tank simple. A nice sized fuge, live rock and a phosban reactor for filteration.

the dimensions are 30 x 13 x 22

wow..nice tank...even with 2 TANGS!!!...lol...i dont think its a big deal to have them in there right now....especially being that small....geez, those damsels are bigger than they are...just make sure they get new homes once they get bigger

Nice tank. It may be a b*tch to get the tangs out when they grow bigger and you'll have to screw with the SPS and remove rock just to get them out.

Nice looking tank.

What kind of waterflow do you have?

eco37
11/16/2007, 09:52 AM
I plan on up grading in 6 or 7 months. I would like to have a tank that is 62" long and use nothing but t5s for lighting. I will have to pull the 37 gallon apart anyways. so my tangs will go in the new tank when it is set up.

thanks icepick96. My return pump is a mag 5. With 4' head pressure it moves around 350 gph. I also have a maxi jet 900. I tried the mod but it caused a sand storm.

I drilled a hole in the back right corner of the overflow and siliconed a bulkhead with a 90 in it then. Hard to explain. I will take some pics later tonight and post them tomorrow.

I found this older pic. It might be 5 months old. You can sort of see the 90 elbow in the top right corner. It isnt bad looking now that it has some coraline on it. Before it was an eyesore.

nice tank...even though the tang police are after you. haha Great rics too!

eco37
12/08/2007, 10:26 AM
yeah the tang police are after me. Do you think they would complain about a 8inch tang in a 6 foot tank? I see those all the time.

Any chance for a picture of the back of the tank and also the sump. Just looking for ideas. I like simple

Nice tank, and nice photography too. Two of my favorites: red/orange rics behind the clam. Damn those rics are on fire! Also, the shot of the birdsnest and the flame hawk has some really nice color. Oh and, thanks to your inspiration, I just bought a naso for my 29!

eco37

I will have some pics of the sump soon I promise. How big is the naso? Small hopefully.

This is the 90 elbow overflow I created by drilling a hole in the back of my tank.

Here is my refugium area. As you can see my temp is around 81 and my PH is 7.5 and I dont have a protein skimmer.

eco37
12/15/2007, 05:28 PM
Yeah, Marty . . . simple is always better. I have seen some tanks with lots of expensive equipment and most of them are nice, but you can also get away with less. The most expensive piece of equipment I own is my Blue Wave HQI ballast.
I also own a
Radium bulb
Reef optix reflector
phosban reactor
Mag 5
CL aqualight mini 2x9w fuge light
Sea life systems refugium
ultra float switch
MRC cr-2 calcium reactor (used $250)
I think thats it

eco37
12/15/2007, 05:30 PM
People give me a hard time about not having a protein skimmer, but the results speak for themselves. My corals look pretty good in a warm tank with a low ph and no skimmer. Go figure

Your pH is seriously that low?

12/18/2007, 06:12 AM
looks good

eco37
12/18/2007, 01:21 PM
my PH was around 7.8 - 7.9 before I hooked up the calcium reactor. Now it is around 7.5. Everything seems to be ok.

12/18/2007, 04:49 PM
what do you use to measure your PH

Marty

jimsta
12/18/2007, 06:36 PM
His PH is really that low. I have seen his tank a few times. My PH gets pretty low as well.

eco37
12/18/2007, 06:46 PM
I use the pinpoint ph monitor. Sometimes I use an AP test to make sure the results are consistent with the monitor. I calibrate the thing every so often hoping that it is giving me a false reading. Its not. My ph is really 7.5

I'd do whatever possible to bump your pH up to 8.2 or 8.4

eco37
12/19/2007, 11:34 AM
Why ?

eco37
12/19/2007, 11:35 AM
Is having a PH 8.2 8.4 important? I didnt think it was

Do you have any pics of your sump and fuge

eco37
12/19/2007, 05:08 PM
This is the fuge with a cl aqualight mini pc light. The mag 5 has a t with a 1/2" ball valve and barb fitting going to my phos ban reactor. The other barb goes to my retun jet. Not a great picture. I will try to get another one.
