Reddish Jelly???

Ok, I have this red/purple looking jelly growing on one of my rocks and a spot on my sand bed. Is this Cyano?

I looks kind of cool, but I'm assuming it will become a problem if that's what it is.

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture, but my description is that it looks like Jell-O!

Any suggestions would be great if someone can possibly recognize it from that:)

If it's translucent, it might be bacteria or even a sponge. Cyanobacteria can be blown off the rock with a turkey baster and then removed from the tank.

Oh, OK! I never even thought of the possibility of it being a sponge or anything like that. Being a newbie, I just went for worse case scenario. I'll try the turkey baster idea and see if it removes it.

Cyano usually is fairly flat and 2 dimensional. It kinda lays on the sand and drapes over rocks. I've seen shades of purple, red and brown.

If what you have is more 3-dimensional it could be something entirely different.

Do some image searches. I think Melev's site may have some picture galleries that if they don't help now, will sometime.
