i recently set up a 100g tank i got from a friend. i currently have 110lbs of LR , 160 LBS of LS a korrila 4 PH and a rio 800 PH (came with tank) and a wet/dry filter system (i removed all bio-balls), and a all clear aqautics protien skimmer rated for 150g.

i wanted to put in a 20g sump instead of the W/D but i couldn't get it in the stand without breaking down and moving the tank. i was able to fit a 10g in the stand without moving the tank. i measured the 10g and can make a 3 chamber mini sump. the first chamber would house the overflow from the tank along with the skimmer. the second is 7 inches and could house cheto and LR rubble and maybe a little sand on the bottom(to keep the LR off the bottom) and the third chamber will have the return pump.

do you guys think its worth make such a small sump?

It is on the small side thats for sure. I actually cut my door openings bigger with the tank in place and added a 38 gallon under my 125. It can be done if you support the structure with 2x4s while you do it.

i though about doing something like that, but there is a chance i'll be moving i 10 months so i'm thinking that the 10g might be better than the W/D til then. at least with the 10g i'll be able to grow cheato

I agree this is awfully small. I have a Split up 29 gallon for my 60 gallon tank. The more the better. Can you fit 2 10 gallon tanks in there, maybe 1 for chateo and the other for LR and LS ???

I would go with a hang on Refugium. Use the wet dry for sump only, until the move.

I second Meco65. W/d with a HOB refugium will be great.
