I need to raise my salinity. It is currently at 1.023. I want it at 1.026. I just made my next bucket of top off salt water instead of fresh for my auto top off, that should do it slowly, shouldn't it? I'll just monitor between each bucket.

Add more salt, just make sure you test.

Never just add more salt to your tank, Always make your SW then add it to your tank. When doing this make sure you do it slowly. I think it’s like .001/24 hrs. There is a calculater on RC I think that tell you what SG to make you new water to raise you tank water, not sure where. This is assuming that your tank is up and running, if it’s not and you don’t have sand in the tank just add in and make sure it mixes in good before adding anything.

Ebmorri,
i think you missed something, he said
"I just made my next bucket of top off salt water instead of fresh for my auto top off.." no one is putting straight sand in a tank.

Maybe just let water evaporate until you get up to 1.026? It will be nice and slow and everyone will adjust well. then if you need more water in your tank you just add fresh mixed saltwater @ 1.026.

The best way is like you said. Just use 1.026 saltwater to top off until you raise your salinity up. Then go back to freshwater top off.

If you want to raise it really slowly, just continue to do water changes with the new water at 1.026. It will eventually raise the tank level to 1.026 as long as you top off like you normally would in between.
