if live rock sits in stagnant salt water for 2 months would it be dead or still have live organisms/bugs etc in it?

looking at a used tank that has been sitting (no fish or corals) stagnant for 2 months

even after two months there could be life left in the rock. Some of the life on live rock is very durable. How badly does the water smell? That would be one sign of how likely there is to be life left in the rock.
