Im getting a new light for my tank. I would love MH but i dont have a chiller so dealing with the heat is something i dont feel like doing. With either one it would be 30" with 2x65 watt bulbs and lunar lights.

Im just looing for some opinions on both brands. thanks for your help folks.

why not go with T5s, much better option and better for the corals.

I would agree with the T5 suggestion. If you do go with PCs I have ran current and coralife and they both looked the same to me.

If you're looking for a lighthood that sits on top the stand, these are the top 2 competitors, both are excellent lighthoods.

If you are going to hang from the ceiling, then you have a few more choices to add to the above 2.

If you're going to do retrofits and DIY into a canopy, Icecaps reflectors and Tek2 reflectors are the top 2.

the light will be right on the tank. but i have on ly found 24" and 36", and i need a 30". do you think a 30" would sufice? it is a corner tank so most corals are twards the center, with low light corals to the edges..

current all the way.. i like the bubls they use better ( 420/260) rather then just the 460s that coralife uses.

plus the ballast are replacable and you can get them DIRT CHEEP if you know where to look

get a MH 30'' 150w -6 white lunars -and 6 blue lunars- it runs 14k
that i hear is very white. But heat shouldn't be a problem..
go for it

t5 fixtures put out almost just as much heat as metal halides. either way you will have to deal with the heat sooner or later.

the ballasts need replaced, otherwise the lights are VERY yellow.

just go with the outer orbit.
