our ph is at 8.38 wondering if this is a bad number? if so how do i fix it what do i dose?? help

dont dose anything, let it ride, thats not to bad of a ph reading, if it gets to 8.6 or higher than thats a problem, my tank runs at 7.8 at night and 7.96 during the day, others at 8.0 to 8.2.
if you really want to lower ph then close all windows and let co2 buildup a little, co2 will lower ph, but my best advice is let it ride.

Most people would love to have a ph of 8.3.

Take some time and visit the chemistry forum ... one of the "sticky posts" at the top of that forum has a thread which contains a link to a number of good articles. Make sure you bookmark the article on "reef aquarium water parameters"

I wish I could have a pH of 8.38! Yes, you are OK. My pH is low, around 7.9 at night and 8.1 during the day.
