I brought a Coral Beauty the other day and can not get it to eat. I have tried Formula one flake food as well as mysis shrimp. It picks at the glass and rocks occasionally. When I feed the tank she comes out of the rocks like she is going to eat but just swims through the food.

Thanks for your help.

Try putting some Nori in a clip in the tank. Mine loves to pick at it all day long. Also try soaking the food in a bit of garlic. I use Seachems Garlic Guard. Some other foods you could try are formula 2, Cyclopeeze, prime reef, emerald entree, spirulina, or spirulina enriched brine shrimp. Try something new at each feeding until you get something it likes!! Good luck!!!

Had the same issue with my coral beauty. I believe I tried all of the above. They are finicky eater that are used to eating sponge in the wild. I tried soaking with Kent garlic and Zoë and it still would not eat. Finally I asked a friend at my LFS and he said to give it time. It will get hungry enough when it will have to eat, and after that you won't be able to stop it from eating. Low and behold that's what happen and my beauty is one of my oldest fish in my tank today.

Do you have other fish inside that eats what you put in ? If so, the coral beauty will eat when it sees the other fish eating the same thing, just give them a couple of days.

My clowns and damsel make sure that no food go to waste. I'll try the Nori clip and see what happens.
