Help me understand sunlight

My tank is away from the sun. I use the light just to light up the tank as it's a LRFO tank.

I know that sun like will cause alge growth. But if I want build a true reef tank, I will need a powerful light source.

Therefore, wouldn't the sun be better? So should I move my tank where there is a window?

You cannot control the sun. What happens on shady and/or rainy days? How about if there is too much heat?
