alot of people have had great success using simple compact fluorescent bulbs in the 5000k temp range. These have a high light output, and consume relatively little electricity, and the best part is you can get them for around 10 bucks!!

and they also have versions with built in reflectors, which makes installation as simple as using some kind of clamp to suspend the bulb above the refugium.

actually found the link I was wanting to post:

http://www.melevsreef.com/fuge_bulb.html

melev goes into more detail on his site, and also shows some really nice comparison shots of the macroalgae with different bulbs. With proof like that, you should have no reason to doubt these bulbs.

Those are the bulbs I use and in fact just changed mine today as they were getting pretty old. Great growth on macroalgae and only needs a simple light socket/holder to hold it where needed.
