How long is a good time to QT a fish. Ive heard different times 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, weeks. I treat them in a QT with cupramine copper. Just got a couple more fish and really cant wait too see them in the tank .

I watch them for six weeks in QT, using treatment only if they show signs of disease.

What if they dont show signs of ick (it can still be present in the gills ) and then you dont treat and it goes to your main tank

I recommend everyone QT their fish for at least 4 weeks. I also recommend you QT fish using hypo salinity which will significantly reduce the chance of introducing ich into the show tank.

A 4-6 week quarantine will determine if Crypt. is present or not. If it doesn't show within that time, it is likely not there. Do not treat for something you don't know exists. The same hold true for hyposalinity (IMO). Many believe, including myself, that the water in the QT should closely match the water in the display.
