Adding live sand...question

So when I already have live rock and live sand in the tank and want to add more sand what is the best way to keep it off my rocks and make as little a mess as possible?

i put more sand in u sing a 2 qt pitcher i submerge it slowly than tip it under water and allow the sand to pour out. i get minimal sand storm....many people pour sand through a pvc pipe to minimize sand storm

why are you adding more sand??

I only had two bags initially and the guy who set up my tank suggested two more bags. My sand bed was not very deep at all.
