How long were they acclimated for? What are your water paramenters? When did you add the star polyps?

Yes, they can take a few days to open up. Sometimes giving them a little more flow can encourage them to open up.

IF they don't open in a week, I'd start to be concerned. A few days is no big deal.

Kill them now before they take over your tank.

Your tank is 2 months old?

I think you should worry for now they will open. normally they open the same day or the day after. but you should worry for that0.5 of ammonia. did you re test the ammonia to make sure that was the reading?

You shouldn't be putting anything in that tank yet if you are still reading ammonia.

I'm not sure you should be adding corals yet. Do you have a refractometer to check for salinity, are you dosing/testing for calcium and alk levels? If not, I'd recommend you postpone adding any add'l corals for now and start doing research to find answer to your questions prior to adding anything else. The corals and your wallet will thank you.

Your patience will pay you back many times over. Happy reefing.

my paramenters are
ammoina 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 0.5
ph 8.5
salinity 10.24

all of the the polyps are now open on both rocks they took there time to come out when i put the lights on this morning but they were out with in 30 mins - 1 hour.

when i did a test this moring my nitrate was showing a little bit of colour may be its below 0.5 the test tube was not clear water colour but not as dark as the shade for 0.5 on test kit chart.

i guess things are all ok in there for now.

get a salifert test kit. you will get exact readings

I think you mean 1.024 for salinity. You still didn't mention your cal/alk levels. If you're not dosing/testing for those....never mind.
Good luck do you.

i am using nutafin test kits at the moment

since my tank is new i need to know more about cal/alk testing
for what i have in there at the moment i was told light was enough for them.

i have seen seen a coral pack i want to buy on the net will have to ask a few questions on here about feeding and testing for there needs. i will list what they are shortly and hope you people can advise me for there needs.

in the coral pack are a mix of 5 piceses in total of

Toadstool Leathers.
Zooanthid rocks.
Acropora.
Montipora.
Hydropora.
Pulsing Xenia.
Colt Corals.
Kenya Tree Corals.
Mushroom Rocks.

i have been told that kenya trees need feeding but what about the rest and what would they need?

you should probably research the corals you want before you buy some and can't care for them. Just take your time and do your research.
