I've been doing research for my seahorse tank, and I keep reading that brighter lights are not good cause the horses dont have eyelids, so might burn their eyes, but... I've never seen a fish blink?

What about puffers? They seem to have the most human-like eyelid of fish, plus have lip-like features.

So that's why I loose every staring match I play with my fish?

I'm not 100% on where exactly seahorses are found in the wild, but alot of fish they do not recommend bright lights for is due to the depth at which these fish are found, they simply are not used to brighter lights and it can definatly harm them. Shame too cause many of these fish are awesome and would normally do well in a reef tank if it weren't for the higher temps and brighter lights.
