I don't think they will eat it...I havent seen one eat a calcium based algae before

from what I've heard not much eats halimeda as it has a very hard calcerous skeleton.

I do not think tangs will eat it either. Halimeda is a very tough fibrous plant. If you do some research about it, you will find a lot of sources that say you can put this plant directly in your aquariums because tangs won't eat it.
